Coffee and Kratom: A Helpful Boost

Using Coffee and Kratom as a way to start the day or as an afternoon boost is a popular practice. The main idea is that many people already start their day using coffee, so adding kratom naturally means taking the two at a similar time. Many people enjoy and appreciate the two substances taken together, while others would choose to separate their usage of them.

Everyone’s body is different and will react differently to these 2 substances alone, so always tread lightly in experimentation. We’ve done our best to break down the idea and best practices in our article here.

Effects of Combining Caffeine and Kratom

By this point, you’re probably aware of the effects of kratom. If not, as a quick recap, kratom is generally a sedating substance that relaxes and calms users. In small doses, kratom can sometimes be considered closer to a stimulating substance that a sedative one, although that is a subjective experience depending on the user.

Coffee/caffeine on the other hand is positively a stimulant. Many people consume coffee every single morning as a part of their routine. We don’t recommend consuming kratom every day due to addiction risk, but it is also a substance that many people consume at an almost-daily rate.

As you might expect with caffeine and kratom, the 2 tend to balance one another out. When combining kratom with coffee, kratom will often calm down the overstimulating and hyperactive effects of coffee. Similarly, the sedative and sleepy effects of kratom will be balanced by the energizing effects of coffee. This leads to the two substances, depending on the doses, to be an enjoyable and safe combination.

Kratom and coffee are safe substances on their own when used within proper guidelines. Effects of caffeine and kratom when combined are dose-dependent. It’s not a good idea to over-use either substance in this combination, because even though they balance each other, it’s still very easy to overdo it. Taking too much kratom with too much coffee introduces the risk of overstimulation, discomfort, or nausea.

That is why we always suggest to start small when using these substances together. Don’t drink more coffee than you normally would and don’t take too much kratom when combining these 2.

Using a small-medium dose of kratom with your morning coffee is a productive and nice way to start your day, no matter what kind of work you do.

Dosing Kratom with Coffee

Keep in mind that every kratom and/or coffee user will react differently to the combination. A common dose of kratom for new or semi-experienced users is about 1.0-3.0 grams. We recommend sticking to this amount when drinking coffee along with it. Keep your coffee or caffeine usage to a similar light threshold also. This means drinking only about 1-2 cups of coffee with your 1.0-3.0 grams of kratom.

Furthermore, consume your substances slowly. We don’t recommend immediately drinking a large amount of coffee right after consuming kratom. It’s better to drink slowly and steadily to measure how you’re feeling.

Once you are more comfortable with your coffee and kratom dosing, you can adjust your amounts to your liking.

You can also consider swapping out coffee for a different source of caffeine. Many people consume energy drinks or caffeine supplements instead of coffee. This can work for some people. We still recommend going slowly and being very aware of the amount of caffeine in your energy drink when consuming kratom with it. Once again, too much kratom with a strong energy drink will lead to nausea and discomfort.

Caffeine supplements can be a measurable way to consume caffeine with your kratom. Many caffeine supplements start at 100mg or 200mg, which is about 1-2 cups of coffee.

Risks of Combining Kratom and Coffee

As always, addiction is a risk when combining these substances. We don’t recommend consuming these substances together on a daily basis, and always take long breaks with kratom.

Using kratom with caffeine at the same time can easily increase your risk of habit-building and addiction. This is a dangerous slope. It does not take much time to develop a dependency on these 2 substances together.

Take breaks, monitor yourself, and always be wary of addiction. Furthermore, increasing your doses can happen fast as you attempt to chase a more energetic or stimulated state by increasing doses. Keep your doses to a non-daily habit and keep them low, instead of increasing them over time.

Conclusion

Always review the kratom wikipedia page for safe and helpful information.

Everyone will find the use of kratom and coffee differently for their bodies. Some people will appreciate the mood boosting effects, while others will feel overstimulated and uncomfortable. This is why we recommend so heavily to keep doses low and slow. The last thing anyone wants is to feel sick at work because they overdid their kratom and/or coffee consumption.

That said, the 2 substances overall have good safety profiles and the risks of dangerous situations is low when you practice safe consumption.

Be wary of the slippery slope to kratom and/or coffee addiction and be safe!
